The Westmont College Orchestra in California has announced that it will tour and perform in China from May 9 to 18, visiting the cities of Beijing, Suzhou, and Shanghai.  Conductor Michael Shasberger and the orchestra’s 68 musicians will perform works by Verdi, Rossini, Vivaldi, Mozart, and Mendelssohn at the Beijing University of Technology, Suzhou Art and Design Technology Institute, Fudan University (Shanghai), and Shanghai University.  The musicians will also perform in a senior citizens’ home, visit sites such as the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City, and attend a performance of Peking opera. Founded in 1937, Westmont is a private college of 1,340 students based in Santa Barbara.
