Thursday’s (5/10) Pioneer Press (St. Paul, Minnesota) reports, “The St. Paul Chamber Orchestra has announced a new concert series dubbed ‘Liquid Music’ that promises to ‘expand the world of classical music through innovative new projects, boundary-defying artists and unique presentation formats.’ Famed performance artist Laurie Anderson, Brian Eno protégé Ben Frost and the Bad Plus’ bassist/composer Reid Anderson are among the acts set to appear in the series, which was curated by Kate Nordstrum, the SPCO’s producer of special projects, who is known for her programming work at the Southern Theater in Minneapolis. A season ticket for all St. Paul-based performances is $50, which also includes two vouchers to see regular SPCO concerts. The previously announced Laurie Anderson show, planned for the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, is an additional $33 for season-ticket holders.” Also on the series are the Midwest premiere of Sarah Kirkland Snider’s song cycle Penelope, alt-rock act Zola Jesus, percussion/cello duo Ian Ding and Ashley Bathgate, and a memorial for composer/pianist/vocalist Julius Eastman.
