Two choral appointments have been announced by The Cleveland Orchestra. LISA WONG, who joined the organization at the beginning of the 2010-11 season as assistant director of choruses, has been named director of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus. DANIEL SINGER has been appointed assistant director of the Youth Chorus. Wong teaches music education and conducting at the College of Wooster (Ohio), where she also conducts the Wooster Chorus and the Wooster Singers; previous academic affiliations include public and private schools in New York, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. She holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from West Chester (Pa.) University, as well as master’s and doctoral degrees in choral conducting from Indiana University. Singer is director of choir and orchestra at the University School in Hunting Valley, Ohio. Also an arranger and composer, he has written works for choral and instrumental ensembles throughout the U.S., and has taught in the Chicago Public Schools and elsewhere in Illinois. Singer holds a bachelor’s degree with highest honors in choral and instrumental music education from Northwestern University, and a master’s in choral conducting from Michigan State University.
