Midori’s Orchestra Residencies Program has chosen the recipients of its 2013-14 residencies. They are Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra and Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra in Michigan; and Santa Rosa Symphony and Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Ensembles in California. For each residency, violinist Midori will spend five to seven days in Kalamazoo and Santa Rosa, working with the youth orchestras, performing with the adult orchestras, and participating in a variety of community and arts advocacy projects. The first annual Orchestra Residencies Program took place in Alaska in October 2004; the 2012-13 residencies take place in Little Rock, Arkansas, and Reading, Pennsylvania. Any U.S. youth orchestra and its affiliated adult orchestra, with combined budgets not exceeding $4.5 million, may submit an application for an Orchestra Residency with Midori.
