In Saturday’s (6/9) The Leader (Corning, New York), Steve Swenson writes, “The Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes has appointed Heidi Berghoff to the position of general manager. Berghoff fills the leadership role after the retirement of Janet Newcomb in May. ‘We are very, very fortunate to have found someone with Heidi’s extensive background in the business of performing arts and already living here in the Southern Tier,’ said Orchestra Board of Trustees President Franc Laux, in a press release. … After earning her bachelor of science degree in finance at St. John’s University in Queens, Berghoff spent the better half of her professional life working in the theater and the non-profit world. She also holds a degree of master of science in management from Elmira College. According to the press release, Berghoff has had many roles in the arts including marketing director, development director, managing director, library director, benefit coordinator, volunteer coordinator, advertising, sales, program development and contract negotiator. … ‘I’m honored to have the opportunity to work with maestro [Toshiyuki] Shimada and all of the OSFL musicians,’ said Berghoff, in the press release. ‘I am delighted to be able to apply my skills and experience to advance the success of such an admired organization.’ ”
