The Juilliard School has appointed early-music specialist and Baroque violinist ROBERT MEALY to succeed MONICA HUGGETT as director of its Historical Performance Program, effective at the start of the 2012-13 academic year. A faculty member in the program since its inception in 2008, Mealy will now provide day-to-day oversight of the curriculum and performance activities while continuing to work with students within the program and throughout Juilliard. He will be stepping down from his full-time faculty post at Yale University School of Music, but will continue to coach students there. Also announced by Juilliard was the appointment of Huggett, also a violinist and early-music specialist, to the newly created post of artist-in-residence and artistic advisor. In addition to her Juilliard activities she serves as artistic director of the Portland (Ore.) Baroque Orchestra and the Irish Baroque Orchestra.
