Four additions to the musician roster were recently announced by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Joining the orchestra in July 2012 will be section first violinist SO YOUNG BAE, a doctoral degree candidate at SUNY-Stony Brook, where she studies with Soovin Kim and Philip Setzer; section violist WEIJING WANG, currently acting associate principal viola with the St. Louis Symphony, of which she has been a member since 2009; and section cello KAREN BASRAK, a member of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra since 2005 and currently serving as its principal cello. Also named to the cello section was DANIEL KATZ, who joined the CSO roster last fall; he had previously performed as a regular substitute with the CSO and the Cleveland Orchestra, and was also a member of Chicago’s Grant Park Orchestra.
