In Friday’s (7/13) Billings Gazette (Montana), Jaci Webb reports, “The Billings Youth Orchestra has commissioned Amy Logan as the conductor for the organization’s new chorale. The BYO will be entering its seventh season in September and will be adding the chorale to perform along with the BYO’s Repertory Orchestra. Rick Lubkeman, president of the BYO, said it was just good timing to add another dimension to the organization. ‘We see this fitting into our mission perfectly. We want to allow not only young musicians to feel what it is like to perform in a professional symphony atmosphere, but to give young singers the chance to experience that as well,’ he said. … The organization is planning a tour of Italy next year that will be available to older students. This allows members of the repertory group, which are typically juniors and seniors in high school, the opportunity to travel and play abroad, he said. … [Logan] is the full-time choral director at Skyview High School, where she conducts five choirs and two additional ensembles. For seven years she served as artistic director and conductor for the Rimrock Opera Chorus for Kids, a choral program she helped create in 2004.”
