MICHAEL BLIMES has been named vice president of philanthropy for the Tucson (Ariz.) Symphony Orchestra. He was previously a senior consultant with C.W. Shaver and Company, where he provided counsel to the Chicago, Detroit, and Phoenix symphony orchestras, the New York Philharmonic, and Carnegie Hall, among other clients. Blimes founded The MIDAS Consulting Group and served for more than two decades as its chairman. The author of two books on fundraising strategies, he has held executive fundraising positions at major public universities, private colleges, and arts and cultural organizations.
