DIANE SYRCLE has been named executive vice president of development at the Oregon Symphony. She was previously executive director of the Portland Youth Philharmonic, a post she assumed in 2003. For seven years Syrcle was director of education at Portland Opera, prior to which she pursued a career as a professional opera singer. She holds an MBA in organizational development from Marylhurst University (Portland, Ore.), a master’s degree in vocal performance from the University of North Texas, and a bachelor’s degree in music and music education from West Texas A&M University. Syrcle was a participant in the League of American Orchestras’ Executive Leadership Program and a board member of the League’s Youth Orchestra Division. She has also served on the board of Portland’s Business for Culture and the Arts, and was a recipient of Young Audiences’ Sunburst Award for Arts Education Advocacy.
