Jonathan Overby—the host and executive producer of Higher Ground with Jonathan Overby, Wisconsin Public Radio’s long-running weekly program focusing on World Music—will serve as narrator for Copland’s Lincoln Portrait at the Peninsula Music Festival in Door County, Wisconsin. The Copland work appears on the festival’s August 11 program, which will be led by Music Director Victor Yampolsky and also features Copland’s Appalachian Spring and Gershwin’s An American in Paris and Rhapsody in Blue, with pianist Orli Shaham. The Peninsula Music Festival this year takes place from August 7 to 25, and is currently in its 60th season; concerts take place in the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek, Wisconsin. Peninsula’s final season concert on August 25 will feature Barber’s Essay No. 2 and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, as well as Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 1, with Hilary Hahn as soloist.
