The violinist Anne Akiko Meyers has launched a contest on Facebook for aspiring violinists, with the winner to receive an Arcus Cadenza Gold carbon fiber violin bow, valued at more than $5,000. Entrants must upload a video of two minutes or less, showing why they deserve to win the bow; entries must include performance footage. Entries can be submitted until September 1, with the winner to be announced on Facebook on September 15. There is no age limit to enter the contest. Meyers stated on her blog that the contest gives her an opportunity to encourage young players and virtually “meet” performers and fans from around the world.
