A report late Wednesday (8/8) on the Times-Union online (Albany, New York) states, “Albany Symphony Orchestra Executive Director Brian Ritter will resign to pursue other career opportunities, symphony officials announced Wednesday. Ritter leaves after three years with the orchestra. A statement about his resignation did not offer specifics and officials could not be reached Wednesday night. ‘Brian’s focus on patron services led to a 50 percent increase in subscriptions during his tenure,’ said Steve Lobel, orchestra board chairman. ‘Audience numbers and concert revenue are expected to increase again this year.’ Ritter, an Allentown, Pa., native, was executive director at symphonies in Allentown and Rockford, Ill., before being hired by Albany in the summer of 2009 at a salary of $85,000. … The orchestra presents eight classical concerts a year under the direction of David Alan Miller, its music director for the last 20 years. Wednesday’s news release said the orchestra is poised for its most successful concert season, which will begin in September.”
