In Friday’s (8/10) Billings Gazette (Montana), Jaci Webb writes, “Tickets for the 2012-13 Billings Symphony Orchestra season go on sale on Monday. The season begins with a dance party on Sept. 15, with Cirque Artists of New York performing against the melodies of Tchaikovsky’s ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and ‘Swan Lake.’ Opening night also features Dvorak’s cheery Symphony No. 8, which draws its inspiration from the Bohemian folk music that Dvorak loved. On Oct. 13, the orchestra performs Beethoven’s Sixth ‘Pastoral Symphony’ under the baton of guest conductor Alastair Willis. Stefan Jackiw, known for his flawless technique, performs a piece close to his heart, Korngold’s Violin Concerto. The Billings Symphony pays tribute to the armed forces on Nov. 10 with ‘Big Band Salute to the USO.’ The orchestra and chorale welcome the USO Liberty Bells for the performance. … On Feb. 9, the BSO performs ‘Hot Latin Nights,’ a percussive mix of tango and flamenco. ‘Fanfare Ritmico,’ by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Jennifer Higdon, sets the mood.”
