Friday (8/10) on the Journal Sentinel online (Milwaukee, Wisconsin), Jim Higgins reports, “Linda Edelstein will become the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra’s new executive director, succeeding Fran Richman, who is retiring after 24 years of leading the elite youth orchestra program. Edelstein is currently the chief operating officer for the United Performing Arts Fund, which raises core operating funds for area performing arts groups. After transition details are worked out, Edelstein will join the MYSO staff in the fall, according to a statement released by MYSO. Before she joined UPAF, Edelstein was executive director of the Waukesha Symphony Orchestra, now known as the Wisconsin Philharmonic. She is an oboist and English hornist who has performed with Present Music. She has also taught music at UW-Whitewater, the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and other educational institutions.”
