The Aspen Music Festival and School has launched the public phase of its “Where Dreams Begin” capital and endowment campaign with the news that it has raised more than $41 million toward the $75 million target goal. The campaign will go toward increasing financial aid for students; adding funds for faculty members to recruit and mentor students; funding concert programming and commissioning new music; and building the Matthew and Carolyn Bucksbaum Campus. The campus is being developed jointly with Aspen Country Day School, the festival’s long-time partner, with the $60 million in construction costs split evenly between the two organizations and most buildings on the campus designed as dual-use. Construction of the redesigned campus is set to begin on August 20 and be completed in two to three years. Of the $75 million in the campaign, $30 million will be directed to campus redevelopment, $40 million to increased endowment, and $5 million for bridge funding and expenses.
