In Thursday’s (8/16) Daily Telegraph (Sydney, Australia), Lisa Power writes that 20-month-old “Madison Wallace is the face of a new generation of fans the Australian Chamber Orchestra hopes to enchant. Determined to spread the love of classical music, the ACO is setting out to capture a new audience by offering expectant mums free tickets to concerts. Research has found music experienced in utero is remembered after birth and can help infants build neural bridges along which information and thoughts travel. ‘We thought it was a lovely idea to make expecting mothers feel good and perhaps that might translate into them coming again,’ ACO deputy general manager Jessica Block said. … Pregnant audience members will be eligible for a free ticket to selected ACO concerts around the country from October. The mums-to-be, who must attend with a paying guest, will also be given a free CD to take home.”
