New to the San Francisco Symphony roster this season will be GUY PIDDINGTON, second trumpet; MATTHEW YOUNG, section viola; and CHRIS GAUDI, who takes a one-year post as associate principal oboe during JONATHAN FISCHER’s leave of absence. Piddington, a graduate of The Juilliard School and Eastman School of Music, has performed with the New York Philharmonic as second trumpet and worked as a freelance musician in the New York area. Young served most recently with the Minnesota Orchestra, where he was acting assistant principal viola from 2007 to 2010; he is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music and Yale University.
