The Fairfax (Va.) Symphony Orchestra has extended the contract of Music Director CHRISTOPHER ZIMMERMAN for three years, through the 2014-15 season. He has led the orchestra since the 2009-10 season. Prior to joining the FSO he held the Mary Primrose Fuller Chair of Orchestral Conducting at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School of Music, where he also conducted the Hartt Symphony. Zimmerman has served as music director of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra in Maine and the Symphony of Southeast Texas in Beaumont, Tex. His guest conducting engagements have included orchestras in China, Czechoslovakia, England, Finland, Mexico, and Venezuela. He graduated from Yale with a bachelor’s degree in music and earned a master’s degree from the University of Michigan.
