DAVID LOCKINGTON’s contract as music director of the Grand Rapids (Mich.) Symphony has been extended through the 2014-15 season, after which he will step down from that post and become the orchestra’s first music director laureate. Lockington was appointed music director in 1999, and at the expiration of his new contract he will have served in that post longer than any other conductor in the orchestra’s history.
