Leslie J. Garfield, chair of the New York Youth Symphony, has announced the appointment of MELISSA EISENSTAT as president of the Board of Trustees. She succeeds A. SLADE MILLS, who held the post for nine years. During her 20-year career Eisenstat has worked in the high-tech industry, both at Apple Computer and the startup Pillar Corporation, and on Wall Street, where she has served as senior software analyst for Oppenheimer & Co. During her high-school years Eisenstat was co-principal cellist in the New York Youth Symphony, and she continues to play chamber music and perform recitals in New York. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Soviet Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA/MA from that university’s Lauder Institute.
