The management and musicians of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in Texas have reached agreement on a new three-year contract, effective immediately and running through July 31, 2015. The contract stipulates for salary increases of 3.5 percent over three years, in annual increments of 0 percent, 1.5 percent, and 2 percent; preservation of the orchestra’s 46-week concert season; greater flexibility around paid and unpaid leave during summer months; and a modest seniority pay package for contract musicians beginning after five years of employment. The agreement follows the FWSO’s adoption of a new five-year strategic plan in May 2012 focusing on the orchestra’s long-term financial stability. The strategic plan involved members of the board, management staff, and musicians.
