With the Detroit Tigers and the San Francisco Giants in the midst of the 2012 World Series, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the San Francisco Symphony have set up a wager, with the winning city’s orchestra to receive a goodie basket from the losing team. Via Facebook and Twitter, each orchestra is asking its fans to recommend what items should go in those baskets—for Detroit, it might include pickles, bratwurst, and beer, while for San Francisco it could be wine, chocolate, and Dungeness crab. Fans can weigh in at the Twitter hashtag for the wager, #classicalworldseries, or by visiting the DSO and SFS Facebook pages or subscribing to DSO and SFS Twitter feeds. Results of the wager will be announced following the World Series, which ends on November 1 (if all seven games are needed).
