JOE NEWBERRY has been named director of communications at the North Carolina Symphony. A fifteen-year veteran of the communications field, he served most recently as public information officer for the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, where he worked with both traditional and online media and spearheaded such projects as the recently launched “This Day in North Carolina History.” Prior to his tenure at the Department of Cultural Resources, Newberry was communications manager for the North Carolina Arts Council, specializing in media outreach, writing, and editing.
