In Sunday’s (11/11) Cincinnati Enquirer (Ohio), Janelle Gelfand writes, “The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra will beam Saturday’s concert of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 led by incoming music director Louis Langrée live to a dozen communities. The unprecedented simulcast will be seen on Fountain Square, Downtown, Newport-on-the-Levee and the Batesville (Ind.) Public Library. Other locations include Mercy Health in Anderson, Clermont and Fairfield; Hillspring Healthcare & Rehab (Springboro); Shawneespring Healthcare Center (Harrison); Villaspring of Erlanger; Mapleknoll Retirement Community (Springdale); Brookwood Retirement Community and Cedar Village (Mason). The simulcast is part of an initiative called ‘One City, One Symphony.’ The program, which has included listening parties, a specially produced video and recorded broadcasts of Beethoven’s Ninth, is a first-of-its-kind partnership between the orchestra, public broadcasters WCET-TV and WGUC 90.9, the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County and numerous community organizations.”
