The Eugene Symphony in Oregon will offer a free poetry workshop one hour before its performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 (“Resurrection”) on November 15. Held at the Studio of the Hulter Center, the workshop is part of the orchestra’s “Sound Perspectives” series and will be hosted by Louisa Lindsay-Sprouse of the Eugene-based Young Writers Association, a nonprofit organization that holds creative-writing programs at area public schools, camps, and intergenerational settings. The orchestra’s “Sound Perspectives” program is designed to broaden the community impact of its season programming with free events ranging from pre-concert performances by orchestra musicians to audiovisual presentations and lectures relating to particular concert programs and themes.
