New World Symphony, the orchestral academy located in Miami Beach, Fla., has announced the election of ROSE ELLEN MEYERHOFF GREENE as chair of its Board of Trustees. She succeeds NEISEN KASDIN, who as board chair from 2008 to 2012 led the organization’s transition to its new campus, the Frank Gehry-designed New World Center. Greene, a member of the NWS board since 2004, is a leading figure in Miami’s cultural life whose volunteer service and philanthropy extend to the education and health-care fields as well. For more than eight years she was president of the Miami Art Museum (now known as Pérez Art Museum Miami), and she continues with that organization as vice president of the board and chair of its Construction Committee.
