The Manhattan School of Music in New York City has announced the appointment of MARJORIE MERRYMAN as interim president pending the selection of a successor to ROBERT SIROTA, who served as president from October 1, 2005 through October 2012. Merryman was most recently the school’s vice president for academics and performance, overseeing composition, voice, opera, and contemporary music as well as all academic areas. An award-winning composer whose works have been commissioned and performed in Europe, Asia, and throughout the U.S., she has been a member of MSM’s composition faculty since 2007. MSM has begun a search for a permanent president, working closely with Catherine French of the Catherine French Group and Mary Carlson of Arts Executive Search.
