The Quad City Symphony Orchestra Association, based in Davenport, Iowa, has announced the appointment of BENJAMIN LOEB as executive director, effective January 7, 2013. He served most recently as executive director of Connecticut’s Greater Bridgeport Symphony, and was formerly executive director and music director of El Paso (Tex.) Symphony Youth Orchestras, which he founded. Loeb was among the first members of the piano faculty at El Paso Conservatory of Music, and is founder and artistic director of the El Paso-based International Conducting Workshop and Festival. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Harvard University; a master’s degree in accompanying from the Curtis Institute of Music; a doctoral degree in accompanying from The Juilliard School; and a graduate performance diploma in conducting from the Peabody Conservatory.
