Sunday (12/30) on the news site TC Palm (Florida’s Treasure Coast and Palm Beaches), Hillary Copsey writes, “The Atlantic Classical Orchestra is starting its 22nd season with a new executive director and plans to debut an original piece of work in tribute to longtime supporter and Stuart resident, Shirley Zemsky, who died in 2011. … This year’s concerts start 8 p.m. Jan. 3 with ‘The Best of Beethoven’ at the Waxlax Center for the Performing Arts … The second set of concerts—Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 in Vero Beach and Stuart, respectively—will debut a new work by David Conte, a composer and Fulbright scholar whose compositions have been featured on PBS and the Sundance and Toronto film festivals. The Atlantic Classical Orchestra commissioned the work in memory of Zemsky, who helped build the organization. Jerry Rappaport, chairman of the orchestra’s board of directors, said the commission is indicative of the growth of the organization … led by a world-class conductor, Stewart Robertson, and new executive director Anne Berquist. … Robertson’s plans include European tours and a chamber music festival on the Treasure Coast.”
