Five youth orchestras will participate in the fourth annual Bay Area Youth Orchestra Festival Hope Concert, scheduled to take place on January 20 in the recently opened Weill Hall on the campus of Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, California. The fundraiser for Bay Area homeless and under-served youth will feature the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra, conducted by Ann Krinitsky; Oakland Youth Orchestra, led by John Kendall Bailey; San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, led by Donato Cabrera; Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra, led by Richard Loheyde; and Young People’s Symphony Orchestra, led by David Ramadanoff. Each of the youth orchestras will perform on the program, with works to include Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2, fourth movement; Barber’s The School for Scandal; Copland’s El Salón México; Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances; and Theofanidis’s Rainbow Body.
