A report in Tuesday’s (1/15) Press-Telegram (Long Beach, California) states, “The Long Beach Symphony Association’s board of directors has selected a veteran administrator for executive director. Kelly Ruggirello, 49, will take over March 4. Ruggirello was president and chief executive officer of Pacific Chorale in Orange County, where a deficit was erased and a balanced budget was registered for seven consecutive years. Prior to that, she served as vice president of development at the Orange County High School of the Arts. A former teacher and arts mentor for the Downey Unified School District, Ruggirello also has held positions with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Pacific Symphony in Orange County. ‘We look forward to the continued growth and success of the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra under her strong leadership,’ said Board President John Di Carlo. Added music director Enrique Arturo Diemecke: ‘Kelly has a wealth of experience and is a great choice to move the orchestra forward into this new era,’ he said. … She replaces Robert C. Jones, who left the organization Sept. 30 to return to his home in Maryland. … Steven Bronfenbrenner, a consultant, had been serving as acting director until a permanent replacement could be found.”
