The Tucson Symphony Orchestra’s next pops event, “Ballroom With a Twist,” will feature choreographed programs on January 26 and 27 with stars from Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, and American Idol. Among the guests appearing at that weekend’s events are professional dancers Anna Trebunskaya and Jonathan Roberts from Dancing with the Stars and American Idol finalists Gina Glocksen, David Hernandez, Von Smith, and Pia Toscano; the latter is the sister of TSO Principal Timpanist Kimberly Toscano. The event will kick off with a Saturday-afternoon “Dance Off” workshop judged by the guest dancers; finalists from that afternoon will be invited to appear in both evening appearances that weekend. Saturday-evening and Sunday-afternoon concerts, choreographed by Louis Van Amstel, will also feature Dancing with the Stars troupe member Oksana Dmytrenko and eleven dancers from So You Think You Can Dance. At a TSO fundraiser following Sunday’s performance, guests will meet stars from the three television shows.
