New World Symphony invites the public to submit videos for John Cage celebration

For its upcoming three-day John Cage centennial celebration, “Making the Right Choices,” the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida is inviting John Cage fans to record and submit their own video for an installation that will on view from February 8-10 at the New World Center’s SunTrust Pavilion. The deadline to submit videos is February 1. Video recordings should document a performance of Cage’s 4’33”, adhering to Cage’s original timing for each of the work’s three movements. During the festival, Artistic Director Michael Tilson Thomas will lead the New World Symphony in John Cage works that will also feature singers Joan La Barbara, Meredith Monk, and Jessye Norman; pianist Marc-André Hamelin; and dancers from the New World School for the Arts, in choreography by Merce Cunningham.
