The Chamber Orchestra of San Antonio in Texas, founded in 2008 by Paul Montalvo, Robert Ehlers, and Silvia Santinelli, has announced the creation of a $100,000 endowment fund. The announcement follows the successful completion of a $50,000 challenge grant from the Tobin Endowment, by the challenge deadline of December 31, 2012. The orchestra gave its first concert in 2012. “Starting its inaugural season with a $100,000 endowment will enable COSA to build on this gift to assure long-term sustainability,” said Executive Director Lori Skinner. “We are positioning ourselves to grow at a sustainable level, because fiscal responsibility is just as important as artistic excellence.” Venezuelan conductor Carlos Izcaray led COSA’s first public concert in October, which featured works by Monteverdi, J.C. Bach, Mozart, Wagner, Varèse, and Ives.
