Wednesday (2/6) on the Alabama news site AL.com, Michael Huebner writes, “Judd Greenstein, the Brooklyn-based composer whose reputation is quickly spreading through New York new music circles and beyond, will have a new work performed Thursday, Feb. 14, on Alabama Symphony’s Classical Edge series. Greenstein’s music has been described as ‘high on amped-up minimalism, percussion-heavy beats, shimmering textures, loops, drones and washes of electronic color.’ He has composed music for numerous New York musicians, including the NOW Ensemble, and has fulfilled commissions for the Minnesota Orchestra, Claremont Trio and Bang on a Can. ASO Conductor Laureate Justin Brown will conduct the program, which includes Mark Dancigers’ ‘Liquid Song,’ Steve Reich’s ‘Triple Quartet’ and Ingram Marshall’s ‘Orphic Memories.’ Greenstein’s work (the title is listed on his web site as ‘Starstuff’) was commissioned by ASO with the help of new music support group, Sound Investment.”
