Ketchum III writes, “Starting this week, the Flint Institute of Music will present a series of events to celebrate Black History Month. The institute will host its week-long Black Classical Music Family Festival beginning on Friday, Feb. 15 and lasting through Saturday, Feb. 23. On Friday, the institute will host a student interactive workshop with Flint Symphony Orchestra vocal soloist Indra Thomas at 1 p.m. in the MacArthur Recital Hall. … On Saturday, the Flint Institute of Music will host its Black Classical Music Family Festival Gala Dinner and Scholarship Fundraiser. The black tie event begins at 5 p.m., and is a pre-concert meal and meet-and-greet for the Flint Symphony Orchestra’s classical concert that evening. … The next week, the Flint Jubilee Chorale and Creative Expressions Dance Studio will give three free performances of ‘You Can Tell The World About This!,’ a production that tells the story of the Harlem Renaissance through song and dance.”
