Ketchum III writes, “For their next performance, Flint Youth Symphony Orchestra is welcoming a houseguest from the home of the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum. At 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, the Flint Youth Symphony Orchestra will play with the Limonest Youth Symphony—a collection of musicians from Limonest, France—at The Whiting. The concert will also feature guests from Flint Southwestern Classical Academy, Fenton High School, and Goodrich High School. … All of the orchestras, a total of 270 musicians, will play four selections together. First, they will perform a pair of seminal pieces—Bernstein’s ‘West Side Story Overture’ and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5—followed by Mancina’s Rhapsody from ‘August Rush.’ They will end the show with the world premiere of ‘Projections,’ an original piece composed by Fenton High School music teacher Andrew David Perkins, who will conduct the final performance. This month’s performance marks the 10-year anniversary of Flint Youth Symphony Orchestra’s partnership with Limonest, and the fourth time Limonest has visited Flint.”
