The American Academy of Arts and Letters has announced sixteen winners of its 2013 awards in music composition, with individual awards ranging from $7,500 to $20,000. The winners are Steven Burke, Tom Cipullo, Joshua Cody, Donald Crockett, Stephen Feigenbaum, David Fulmer, Patrick Harlin, Ted Hearne, Kamran Ince, Arthur V. Kreiger, Tonia Ko, Michael Lee, Elizabeth Ogonek, Daniel Ott, Adam Roberts, and Kate Soper. The awards will be presented in May at the Academy’s annual ceremony at its headquarters on West 155th Street in Manhattan. To date, among the orchestras that have performed works by the winning composers are the National Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Symphony, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, St. Louis Symphony, Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Albany (New York) Symphony, Brooklyn Philharmonic, BBC Symphony Orchestra, and American Composers Orchestra.
