The Detroit Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of HUNTER EBERLY to the Lee and Floy Barthel DSO Principal Trumpet Chair. A 26-year-old native of Muskegon, Mich., he made his debut in this post at the orchestra’s March 7 concert at Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield, Mich. Eberly was formerly principal trumpet with the Jacksonville (Fla.) Symphony, and has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Grand Rapids (Mich.) Symphony, China’s Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, and the Antalya Symphony in Turkey. A prizewinner in numerous trumpet competitions, he holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Michigan’s Grand Valley State University and a Professional Studies Certificate from The Colburn School in Los Angeles.
