Violinist GLENN DICTEROW will join the string faculty of Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California, effective with the start of MAW’s 2014 Summer School and Festival. Dicterow is the longest-serving concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic, a post he plans to relinquish at the end of the 2013-14 season. He participated in the 2011 and 2012 seasons at MAW and will return as a visiting artist this summer. Dicterow was also appointed recently to the faculty at the University of California’s Thornton School of Music, where he will be the first holder of the Robert Mann Chair in Strings and Chamber Music beginning in Fall 2013. A native of Los Angeles, he made his debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at age eleven and later studied with USC faculty member Jascha Heifetz. Before joining the New York Philharmonic Dicterow served as associate concertmaster and then concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
