The River Oaks Chamber Orchestra in Houston, Texas has launched an online store that includes free streams of its concerts as well as digital downloads for purchase of concerts from ROCO’s first seven seasons, beginning with the 2005-06 season. At the listening room of ROCO’s website, visitors can replay concerts and excerpts from past seasons, for free; at the music store, listeners can preview tracks and buy digital downloads of concert albums and music tracks. Also for sale at the store are ROCOringtones, excerpts from live performances that can be downloaded as iPhone ringtones, featuring excerpts performed by individual ROCO musicians. Ringtones feature Alecia Lawyer, ROCO’s founder, executive director, and principal oboist; violinist Brian Lewis; flutist Christina Jennings; clarinetist Nathan Williams; cellist Richard Belcher; bassist Sandor Ostlund; and percussionist Matt McClung.
