Nathan Newbrough, president and CEO of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, has been announced as a winner of a 2013 community leadership award from Leadership Pikes Peak, a nonprofit that promotes civic leadership in the Pikes Peak region of Colorado. Newbrough’s “Modeling the Way” award honors a team-building leader who encourages others to get involved. In naming Newbrough, Leadership Pikes Peak cited the orchestra’s reinvigoration through increased ticket sales, as well as its role in headlining the Waldo Canyon Benefit Concert at the World Arena in July, partnering with numerous local organizations to raise money for Waldo Canyon Fire relief efforts. Newbrough will be honored with three other 2013 award recipients on April 6 at Leadership Pikes Peak’s annual Celebration of Community Leadership at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
