EVGENY ZVONNIKOV has been named associate concertmaster of the Wichita (Kan.) Symphony Orchestra. He succeeds NANCY LUTTRELL, who announced last season that she would step down as associate concertmaster when a replacement was identified. (Luttrell joined the orchestra in 1971 and was promoted to associate concertmaster in 1979; she remains a member of the orchestra’s first violin section.) Zvonnikov, a graduate of Russia’s St. Petersburg Conservatory and 2009 winner of the St. Petersburg International Music Academy Concerto Competition, has performed in a variety of St. Petersburg venues as well as in Japan, Finland, France, Switzerland, and Italy. Since 2010 he has been a member of the St. Petersburg Quartet, in residence at Wichita State University, and a member of WSU’s adjunct faculty.
