A report Tuesday (3/26) on the Yakima Herald online (Washington) states, “The Yakima Symphony Orchestra announced Tuesday morning that a new executive director has been hired and will start work April 19. David Rogers of Tampa, Fla., replaces Larry Kopp, who was fired in December after just six months on the job. Rogers has been the artistic administrator of the Florida Orchestra in Tampa and formerly directed the In Your Ear Music Festival in Rochester, N.Y. In addition to his work as an administrator, he has remained active as a composer. The Florida Orchestra plans to debut one of Rogers’ pieces in its 2013-14 season. … Rogers is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester. He holds a master’s degree from New York University and a doctorate in music composition from Eastman.”
