On April 28 Pennsylvania’s Reading Symphony Orchestra will hold its second annual “Beat Beethoven” race, a running event in which participants have approximately 60 minutes to complete the course—as the Reading Symphony Youth Orchestra performs a live concert of music by Beethoven. The race on the campus of Alvernia University, Angelica Park, and the Schuylkill River Thun Trail begins at 10 a.m., with the downbeat of the music signaling the race start. Runners are challenged to complete the 10-kilometer race in 60 minutes or a shorter race/walk of 5 kilometers in 30 minutes, before the music ends. The $25 registration fee will benefit the Reading Symphony Orchestra, and all participants receive a Beat Beethoven T-shirt and gift bag. Those who complete the race in the allotted time also receive a special button.
