An Associated Press report in Monday’s (4/8) Rapid City Journal (South Dakota) states, “The South Dakota Symphony Orchestra is hosting a free benefit concert Monday night to raise money for a musician’s wife who is fighting breast cancer. Thirty-nine-year-old Susan Hill, the wife of longtime clarinetist Chris Hill, has been diagnosed with stage four breast cancer and she’s undergone all types of treatment. The couple hopes an experimental treatment could be the answer, but it’s expensive. Director David Gier and other musicians are donating their time and talents to host a benefit concert to help the Hills pay medical expenses. Monday night’s 7 p.m. concert [is] open to the public and free, but a freewill offering will be taken to help with the expenses. No tickets are necessary. The concert will feature a piece of music written specifically for Susan Hill.”
