On April 24 the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra will perform a futuristic reimagining of the Greek myth of Icarus, set in outer space, as part of the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts in March and April. Icarus at the Edge of Time, with music by Philip Glass and a script by physicist Brian Greene and playwright David Henry Hwang, will be led by PYO Music Director Louis Scaglione at the Kimmel Center, which is co-producing the event. The performance includes animated film by British filmmakers Al+Al and is part of 2013 Philadelphia Science Festival, encompassing multiple events at various Philadelphia venues from April 18 to 28.  Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts had its inaugural year in 2011 and features events during the spring season by more than 50 arts and cultural organizations spring throughout Philadelphia.
