Seattle Symphony Music Director LUDOVIC MORLOT has been named chair of the Orchestral Conducting Studies program at the University of Washington School of Music, effective in fall 2013. In his new post Morlot will take a leading role in recruiting and training graduate conducting students at the University of Washington, where he has served as affiliate professor of music since March 2012. Morlot, a native of France, is now completing his second season as music director of the Seattle Symphony, and since January 2012 has held an additional post as chief conductor of La Monnaie in Brussels. Also announced by the School of Music was the appointment, effective next fall, of DAVID RAHBEE as director of the University of Washington Symphony Orchestra. Rahbee will work closely with Morlot in developing the school’s orchestral studies program.
