A report in Tuesday’s (4/16) Fresno Business Journal (California) states, “The Fresno Regional Foundation has approved $120,000 in grants to support arts and culture organizations serving the San Joaquin Valley. This year’s emphasis is on supporting a broad spectrum of arts experiences, and $50,000 was awarded to Youth Orchestras of Fresno for an after school violin program in West Fresno. ‘We are excited to support Youth Orchestras of Fresno continue to demonstrate how arts activities support the success of Valley children in core subjects like reading and math,’ said Dan DeSantis, CEO of Fresno Regional Foundation, in a release. ‘With support for teacher training and program evaluation, we hope to see this approach replicated in more schools across the region.’ … Additional organizations that were chosen are ImagineU Interactive Children’s Museum; New Conservatory Theatre Center; Stone Soup Fresno; Boys and Girls Clubs of the Sequoias; About Productions; Kings Regional Traditional Folk Arts; Valley Arts and Science Academy; and Parlier Unified School District.”
